Kagyu Samye Dzong is a Dublin-based Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Centre, founded in 1977, the oldest established Buddhist Centre in Ireland, and is part of the Karma Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Our Spiritual Director is His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorge.
Our Founder and Director, Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche, first brought Tibetan Buddhism to the West in 1963 and he subsequently founded, with Chogyam Trungpa, Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland, the first Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in the West.
There is now a network of Samye Dzongs throughout the world offering access to the teachings of the Buddha to all. The Centre is run by a dedicated group of volunteers under the guidance and direction of Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche and our Abbott, Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche.
A note about donations, traditionally the Buddhist teachings are given freely as they are considered priceless. In the Buddhist tradition one practices generosity or Dana, by making monetary offerings for the teachings, an offering in appreciation of the Dharma. There are also considerable costs in running a Dharma Centre, so your generous support helps maintain a place of study and practice, brings teachers and helps sustain the teachings of the Lord Buddha into the future. If finances are a genuine obstacle to attending the Centre, please feel free to give whatever you can afford.
